Dark figures in white rage
Dark figures in white rage.
Collars up and eyes down.
Ghosts of alienation
In the hypnotized mainstream,
Bristling with promissory notes.
Collectivities of meaning
Filled with subjugation,
Coaxing us with mediocrity.
Insults to the indigines.
Auditors of public taste,
And moonscapes of media,
Fanciful and frantic,
Pleasured by infantilism.
The seam of culture unbinding
By eviscerated autonomy,
Flooding the natural way,
Leaving an abandoned island.
Wayfarers of dullness
In an ocean of possibilities.
I never belonged amongst
These sea fever intellectuals,
Pouting when the waves swell,
Caring only for drab newness
That simulates profit.
Hissing at descriptive art,
At back breaking labor,
At myths of the people
And their ancient symbiosis,
At poetic absurdity,
That loosens simplicity,
To surround complex beauty,
With ever loving arms.
